Werris Creek might have lost some of its talented players from the side which beat Gunnedah at Gunnedah last Saturday but will have some talented replacements for this Saturday’s trek to Narrabri.
The Magpies are missing injured centre Kieren Williams (ankle) while prop Beau Parry, winger/centre Nathaniel Slater and brilliant hooker Dylan Porter have to work.
That Thomas Browne returns after missing the first round to prop up the scrum with young giant Charlie Parsons gives the Magpies a strong side.
Wes Riley moves to hooker in place of Dylan Porter and Dave Murnane moves into the second row.
“Thomas is champing at the bit,” said Werris Creek coach Dave Stewart.
“Great to have him back.”
That Mitchell Cox also played strong minutes last week in the middle is another plus for the side, said captain Cody Tickle.
“He’s been training hard and played very well in the middle last week,” Tickle told G4 Media.
Cox has built up and is in for a good season, Tickle believes.
He has the same regard for fullback Ronin Hadden.
“He’s been training his backside off,” he said of the number one who was one of the best on show at Gunnedah last Saturday.
Narrabri Blues will be ready for a tough Magpie mauling.
Coach Glenn “Snowy” Collins said the Blues are preparing for a big day at Collins Park.
“We’re opening the new scoreboard,” said Collins.
“Everyone’s talking about the game. There’s a real good feeling around the town.”
He said the Blues will be without Chris Hunt and Tyler Colwell (shoulder) for the match.
