NarraBRIGHT is back and brighter than ever for 2024.
Now in its fourth year the much-loved event will return to Maitland Street on Friday 15 March from 6pm. The street party, which forms the main piece of Narrabri’s CREATE festival, is promising to be bigger than ever with more of all the things that locals have come to love about the event.
As per previous years, NarraBRIGHT will bring its usual eclectic and fun mix of food stalls, art installations, live music and entertainment, and children’s activities. Many of the surrounding local businesses also get involved, offering late-night shopping for attendees to enjoy.
Narrabri Shire Council spokesperson Gillian Goddard tells us there will be a couple of new features for 2024.
“For the first time, there will be market stalls, and a licensed bar by the Wilga Hotel.”
“We also have a record number of community groups and food stalls attending – Our program is big this year!”
After receiving exceptional feedback from last year’s event, Dr Bliss Cavanagh’s Sensory Garden installation will also return. The Sensory Garden is designed to be an immersive and magical multisensory experience for people of all ages and abilities.
And of course, it wouldn’t be NarraBRIGHT without the illuminations. This year will feature four stunning illuminated projections onto the iconic former Clubhouse Hotel on Maitland Street.
Illuminart Australia will once again provide the technology for the projections, which will feature artworks from local Gomeroi Aboriginal artist Caitlin Trindall.
“The works I have selected to appear in this exhibition hold a great deal of significance to me, they are a combination of both traditional and contemporary art,” Ms Trindall said.
“One of these artworks ‘Family of Turtles’ was painted for my Pop as a representation of our family – with each of the 4 turtles symbolic of my Pop, my Mum, Leanne Trindall, my brother Matt, and me.”
“To showcase this in NarraBRIGHT is an absolute honour that I am truly excited for.”
You’ll even have the opportunity to take your own little piece of NarraBRIGHT home with you, as local artist Chloe Tough will be leading a neon LED lantern workshop on the night.
