For emergency services, the ability to find a rural property quickly is often critical and a new program in Glen Innes Severn region aims to address this issue.

Reflective roadside signage, that clearly marks a rural property entrance and can be seen during poor visibility conditions, is now being rolled out across the local government area.

Thanks to Australian Government funding, the signage cost is subsidised, meaning rural property owners pay a $110 fee to have the signage supplied and installed by Council staff.

GLENRAC CEO, Kylie Falconer is urging rural landholders to sign up for the initiative, which is available until 31 October, 2023.

“Residents may have seen similar distinct blue property entrance signage in regional areas such as Walcha and Armidale”, Mrs Falconer explained.

“The sign displays the property name and also the road name and property number”.

“The signs are a great way for emergency services to find you, but also helps carriers, delivery drivers and visitors clearly see the entrance to your property”.

Mrs Falconer says rural landholders can sign up for the program online, or GLENRAC staff are available to assist landholders to complete the paperwork.

Once the application has been reviewed and approved, payment of $110 at Glen Innes Severn Council will be required to progress the order.

Signage can be ordered at https://www.glenrac.org.au/other-opportunities or landholders can make an appointment for assistance by calling the GLENRAC office on 67323443.
