People in the Moree Plains Shire are being invited to have their say on the future of the area in a survey that closes on Friday.
The Moree township and surrounding areas are expected to grow over the next 20 years with the arrival of the Inland Rail and the Special Activation Precinct (SAP). Moree Plains Shire Council is progressing with plans to provide more housing in the right locations and to deliver the required infrastructure through the development of the Moree Growth and Infrastructure Plan.
The Council adopted the Moree Plains Local Housing Strategy in November of 2022. This strategy identified the need for up to 4,400 additional new dwellings in shire by 2041.
Now Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking contribution from the community to complete a short survey to help shape the potential development of Southwest Moree and Pallamallawa.
“Council is excited to be looking into the future for our beloved Moree Plains, and we are keen to ensure that we have the infrastructure in place to allow for the projected expansion,” said Moree Plains Shire Mayor Mark Johnson.
“The purpose of this survey is to help us research 5 investigation areas to help support this growth.
“I would encourage everyone to participate in helping shape the Plan to help us build our urban growth to meet the needs of all residents, now and in the future”, he said.

Members of the public who would like to complete a hard copy of the survey are encouraged to complete one at Councils Customer Service counter, level 2 Max Centre, Moree.
