The best gymnasts from across the state will be coming to Armidale in July for the NSW Country Championships.

The Armidale City Gymnastics Club will host the Gymnastics NSW Country Championships from 4 July to 9 July 2023. The event will be held at the club’s recently expanded facilities, located at 124 Kentucky Street in Armidale.

The event will feature over 40 clubs and more than 1000 athletes who will showcase their impressive skills and athleticism across various disciplines. The gymsports on showcase include artistic, rhythmic, acrobatic, trampoline, and team gymnastics, with both men and women competitions. The age and abilities of athletes will vary, with the competition hosting level 1 athletes, right up to masters.

There will be two to three sessions of competition per day, with spectator entry opening at 11.30am on Day 1, and 8.15 am on all following days. Spectator entry is free of charge. Each session will conclude with a presentation.

“We are so excited to be granted this great opportunity to host the NSW Country Championships. We’ve been preparing to host this event since 1985 when we attended our first Country Championships in Gunnedah, which was hosted over one day.”

“We hope our new additions to the facility meet with approval and that the town of Armidale, which like all our other struggling rural communities, shows you what country hospitality is all about,” a spokesperson for the Armidale City Gymnastics Club said.
