Held between the 15th to the 21st of May, National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers. This year the theme is The Change Makers.
Volunteer Week recognises the dedicated and hard-working individuals who have volunteered their time to help others. Volunteering Australia has launched a new social media campaign called ‘We are the Change Makers’ for National Volunteer Week 2023.
We are the Change Makers recognises that volunteers are the change makers in Australian communities across the nation. As part of their campaign, Volunteering Australia asks you to think about what kind of Change Maker you are and invites everyone to become one by not just celebrating volunteers, but also to inspire new volunteers.
National Volunteer Week 2023 is proudly sponsored by Aon Australia and Streets and is supported by the Department of Social Services.
As part of National Volunteer Week, local councils will be celebrating volunteers in their area. The Armidale Regional Council will be awarding certificates of recognition to volunteers nominated by members of the community. The New England Volunteer Award winners will be announced during National Volunteer Week between the 15th and 21st of May.
Meanwhile, Glen Innes Shire Council has an afternoon tea planned on the 18th of May for all their Life Choices Support Services Volunteers. Anyone who is a volunteer with them should RSVP for the event by calling 6730 2500 before the 17th of May.
