A 31-year-old man has died in Tamworth Hospital after being hit by a car while walking on Woodward Avenue in South Tamworth at around 11:30pm last night.
The man was transported to Tamworth Hospital in a critical condition where he later passed away.
The victim’s name has not been released, awaiting formal identification.
The driver of the vehicle was a 46-year-old woman who was uninjured but was taken to Tamworth Hospital for mandatory testing.
A decision has not yet been made to lay charges, pending further investigation and the mandatory test results. Inquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the crash and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
The man was the seventh person to die on the state’s roads during the Easter Long Weekend.
