Tamworth Regional Council crews are working to clear debris and fallen trees in parts of Tamworth and the wider region following storm activity last night.
“Due to the widespread nature of the storms, it could take many hours for staff to get around to all reported sites,” said a Council spokesperson.
“No roads are closed, however many have debris on them and there are multiple fallen trees or larges branches on or beside roadways which have been reported to us.”
“Drivers are asked to take extra care and to especially keep their eyes open while on our roads especially in our more rural and remote parts of the region areas where large trees may have fallen.”
Residents can report fallen trees or large debris on roads by calling 6767 5555. Outside of office hours, calls are answered by our after-hours service.
“Please keep in mind there may be a high volume of incoming calls at the same time, so please keep calling until you speak with a team member,” the spokesperson said. “In an emergency always call 000.”
We’re not out of the woods yet, the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast more possible storm activity this afternoon.
