Centrepoint Tamworth have donated over $500 to the Tamworth branch of Can Assist, marking the start of the charity’s 2025 fundraising efforts to support cancer patients in this region.

The funds were raised in December as part of Centrepoint’s Christmas Wrapping Station initiative which called on not-for-profit groups to man the station and collect a gold coin donation for every gift they wrapped.

Centrepoint provided all gift-wrapping materials and those who took up the opportunity included Tamworth City Lions, APDA Dance, Tamworth Orchid Society, and Northcott Disability Services.

“We’re proud to see the community come together in such a meaningful way during the festive season,” said Centrepoint’s Administration Coordinator Tracy Guest.

“This initiative not only brought Christmas cheer to shoppers but also supported several incredible community-based organisations including Can Assist.”

“Whenever there were vacancies in the wrapping roster, Centrepoint staff stepped in to wrap gifts and nominated Can Assist as the beneficiary. Their efforts raised $540 to kickstart fundraising for the organisation’s Tamworth branch.”

“The success of the Christmas Wrapping Station was coupled with a 6.4% increase in Christmas foot traffic for Centrepoint which is a wonderful indication of the community’s decision to shop local and support hard working local businesspeople.”

“This support means so much to us,” said Christine Smith, Treasurer of the Tamworth Branch of Can Assist.

“The funds raised by Centrepoint Tamworth is a great start to the year and every dollar donated will help us provide financial assistance to local families navigating the challenges of cancer treatment” she said.
