October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region.

Today we have a trusted truck and trailer parts and service business, an agricultural trucking company, and a stock and station agent.

Truck & Trailer Sales & Service 🖥️

Truck & Trailer Sales & Service is a locally-owned, Inverell based Heavy Vehicle Repairs Workshop and Spare Parts Retailer. We are your one-stop-shop for all Heavy Vehicle needs! From spare parts, hydraulics, custom manufacturing or truck & trailer servicing and repairs – we can do it all in house.

We have a knowledgeable team, committed to utilising their technical expertise for all truck or trailer repairs and custom fabrication to provide innovative solutions for all our customer’s needs.

Along with our work, we carry an extensive range of heavy vehicle spare parts and hydraulic components, with an experienced team of spare parts interpreters that will go the extra mile to make sure our customers have everything required to finish the job.

Truck & Trailer Sales & Service has been servicing the Inverell area for over 40 years. It was first established by Ken & Leigh Hobbs and is now managed by Rob Hobbs.

We are locally owned and operated, and have a very personal relationship with our customers.

We have fully qualified mechanics, boiler makers, machinist and a spare parts team with over 40 years of combined experience.

Stuart Makim Transport 🖥️

Stuart Makim Transport is a family-owned and operated truck transport business, and quickly approaching its 20th anniversary. Founded in 2005 by Stuart and Marcella Makim, SMT specialises in transporting grain, almonds, cotton, livestock, and machinery across Australia.

Stuart’s love for trucks began at a young age, and in 2005, he purchased his first truck, a 1987 black Western Star that is still on the road today. Marcella, originally from Ireland, met Stuart while working for his family’s contract harvesting business, and the couple soon married. Together, they have built SMT into a thriving business with a strong reputation for safety and customer satisfaction.

SMT’s success comes from its commitment to treating employees like family and building long-term relationships with clients. They get to know their employees on a personal level, and they become part of our family.

Their dedication to high-quality service and safety has earned them many loyal customers, some of whom have been with them since the beginning.

In 2022, SMT expanded its truck yard to accommodate their growing fleet of eight trucks, including the recent addition of a brand-new Kenworth 509. With plans for further expansion, SMT continues to transport goods across Australia, from almonds in Victoria to machinery in Queensland, ensuring each delivery arrives safely and on time.

Crump Stock and Station Agency 🖥️

Crump Stock & Station Agency, a family-owned business, has been serving the Gwydir Shire since its establishment in 2020 by husband and wife team, Damien and Sarah Crump.

Based in Bingara, the agency offers a wide range of services, including livestock marketing and sales, rural and residential property sales, machinery sales, licensed auctioneering (both real estate and stock), clearing sales, property appraisals, and even a rent-a-bull service.

Damien Crump is a Class 1 Licensed Stock & Station Agent, Real Estate Agent, and Auctioneer, with deep roots in the livestock industry. His family has been part of this field for generations, with the iconic Wollombi Saleyards in the Hunter Valley being owned by the Crump family for over a century. Sarah Crump, a licensed Assistant Real Estate Agent, also has strong ties to the agency lifestyle through her grandfather, Ray Crawford, who ran Ray Crawford & Co Stock & Station Agency in Inverell for nearly 50 years.

Together, Damien and Sarah bring passion, dedication, and a personalised touch to the industry. They don’t just offer a product or service; they offer a personalised experience that truly understands and caters to the unique needs of their clientele.

Damien and Sarah created their business to make a difference, valuing every customer interaction and going the extra mile. They care about building genuine relationships and ensuring every customer leaves satisfied, knowing they’ve made the best choice.

Throughout October, we’ll run stories highlighting the great local businesses we have right here in our communities. This is a free service – the businesses highlighted have not paid for this story.
