A big upset indeed in Liverpool Plains Shire, where sitting Mayor Doug Hawkins has failed to be re-elected. Newcomer Shawn Cain ran the table and his preferences were decisive in determining who would be sitting around the table with him. The only other candidate to get a quota in their own right was another newcomer Charlie Simkin, who at 36 is one of the youngest councillors in the region.
