October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region.

Today we have a boutique/giftshop/cafe, an exquisite florist that is passing the skill on, and a country and western homewares manufacturer.

Melrose Uralla 🖥️

Melrose is a local family run boutique in Uralla stocking everything from women’s fashion, jewellery, footwear, homewares, baby items and even caps and undies for the men.

Melrose is real family business, run mainly by Mackenzie Hollis and her Mum, Jenny.

“I’m in-store 2 days a week and also do all of our buying and social media,” Makenzie said.

“You may also find my 13-month old son Charlie in-store “helping” out, he has recently found our broom and figured out how that works”

Makenzie’s dad and partner are also in the shop helping with the big bulky items or renovations and may jump on the cash register to take orders.

Melrose is a one stop shop where you can grab something for the whole family for any occasion.

The team love stocking local and small Australian suppliers, and you’ll find little information cards around the shop telling you a bit about who designed the products and where they’ve come from.

“We also have a beautiful coffee bar with little sweet treats for on the go or sit in the window and watch the world go by for a bit or enjoy a delicious sticky chai while you browse,” Makenzie said.

“You may even find some treasure from our pre-loved range that ready for a new life.”

You’ll find Melrose at 80 Bridge Street, Uralla.

Rosemerin Florist 🖥️

Rosemerin is a vibrant florist with a great location near the hospital in Armidale, catering for all types of floristry and specialising in weddings and events across the New England. We have a large delivery catchment to cater to our wonderfully supportive community.

Continuously operating for 23 years with a combined total of over 45 years of experience with a dedicated events team, Rosemerin use locally grown and hand selected flowers from all over Australia, and when required, internationally sourcing flowers specifically to meet our clients needs.

“We have a huge selections of blooms that can be hand picked by our shoppers to create the perfect gift,” Maria Baivucago said.

“We also have a huge selection of hampers for same day delivery.”

Rosemerin Florist has been owned and operated by the Baivucago family for over ten years. They pride themselves on employing a team of dedicated and multi-generational experienced florists, and continue the education of young and up and coming designers by facilitating traineeships, ensuring Rosemerin will be there to provide you with the best floral arrangements for all the special moments in your life.

On The Ranch 🖥️

Specialising in handcrafted & quality furniture, decor & wares, On the Ranch showcases distinctive western & country style designs for your home & lifestyle.

This unique range of homewares is brought to you by a craftsman builder and a western fashion boutique owner couple, who share a passion for creativity, team up to bring On the Ranch to the Australian Country and Western Homewares Market.

“Our mission is to create one of a kind pieces for you to cherish and display in your homes that exude your individual style & personality.”

Where skill & style collide to create the most exquisite western inspired furniture and décor, is right where you will find this great small business, producing their products locally in Delungra.
