New England residents are invited to join in as Tamworth Pride Inc hosts their fourth annual Pride Fair tomorrow, Saturday 21 September.

Tamworth Pride Inc’s Fair Day is a family-friendly event, that helps to bring recognition and visibility to the growing LGBTQIA+ community.

“It’s a way to provide a safe and supportive place for people who might be struggling to come out or if they don’t know how they’re feeling and they just need some support,” said Joshua Turner, Vice President/Treasurer at Tamworth Pride Inc.

“We have about two thousand people come through Bicentennial Park in Tamworth for the day and we’ve got about 38 stall holders this year, ranging from food stalls to mental health stalls to merchandising to support companies”

And there will plenty of entertainment, with music, dancing and even a dog show for our furry friends.

“We’ve got Katie Jayne as one of our headliners, and we’ve got Foxxe Faux & Abork drag queens from Newcastle coming to come and perform on the day.”

And where is the fun without some dress up and prizes for best dressed.

This year’s theme is Superheroes by Day and Villains by Night, which was chosen to highlight the strength and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community and provide a fun and family-friendly atmosphere for our Fair Day and then a more adult theme, for the over 18-year-old after party.

The after party will continue at West Digger from 7pm.

“We want to provide a supportive and safe space and event for the LGBTQIA plus community and the allies around them as well. So, the after party allows them to come in and just have a bit of a party and have a bit of a dance.”

The fair kicks off at 9am and will wrap up around 2pm, and then the after party will roll on.

Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the fair, meet some new people and raise some awareness for all members of our community.
