If you haven’t pulled out all your winter woolies from the top of the wardrobe yet, now might be the time to do so. Parts of New England are currently forecast to see a dusting of snow next week!

At this stage, the Bureau of Meteorology is forecasting potential snow for Walcha on Tuesday July 16 with a minimum temperature of -2 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 7 degrees Celsius.

Guyra also has a potential dusting on the cards for the same day, with their predicted temperatures currently forecast at a minimum of -2 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 6 degrees Celsius.

If you’re really keen for a real snow chase next week, your best bet at this stage is to head to Barrington Tops, which has snow and snow showers forecast on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, with Monday morning expected to dip down to -4 degrees Celsius.

Local weather forecasting page, Tamworth Regional Weather, said not to buy into the hype too much just yet.

A post on their Facebook page yesterday said, “Yes, there is a chance, but this far out, I certainly wouldn’t be spending money on accommodation quite yet. We are watching models & when it comes to snow, models are always chopping & changing.”

“We will continue to monitor & as we get closer, we will give in-depth analysis. We have a number of admins in areas where it could snow & we also have a number of snow chasers.”

This is, of course, is not the first snow for the season, but the earlier flurries weren’t enough to play with. If the Bureau is right, there might be enough to make a snowman or at least a few snow balls.

Regardless of whether we see some snow or not it is bound to be chilly next week across the region as this particularly cold winter continues.

The rest of New England is forecast to be cold with potential frost in many townships from Sunday morning, with most minimum temperatures expected to hover around the 0 degrees Celsius or below, and most maximum temperatures hovering around the 8-12 degrees Celsius mark.

We’ll all be keeping a keen eye out and, if you do see any snow in your area, make sure to send your photos through to newsdesk@netimes.com.au or DM us on the New England Times Facebook page.
