Netballers around the state are gearing up for the pinnacle event of the year, the Senior State Titles. And no one is more eager to show up than Inverell’s rep teams.

Inverell Netball Association will be sending two teams- opens and under 15s, to chase down success. Both teams finished as runners-up in their division last year and ae looking to take it one step further.

“This year’s teams do look a little bit different, and we have had a few players out with injury, so we’ve got a few new players to the association, but they are looking very great and competitive,” said Angela Hall, Inverell Netball Association, Representative Coordinator.

Sherrie Finney will steer the opens from the coach’s box. Finney coached the under 15s last year, taking home silver, and with many from the team moving up into the opens, they’re in for a good shot.

“Our opens team also won division two in Regional League in Tamworth earlier this year, so we’re very excited to see how they go at the state titles,” said Angela.

Inverell netball continues to prove themselves as a competitive opponent on the court.

“We often have players selected with NIAS, whether it be at the development level or with the teams over the years,” said Angela.

“We’re really lucky and we have a very strong and competitive association for a small country town, and we have a great community that really rallies around to support financially through sponsorship to get our teams there and we have a lot of hard-working long-term committee members who all go above and beyond, spending many hours ensuring that we can provide these opportunities for our country kids who are doing very well.

The under 15s team will follow the guidance of Coach Haylee Wyndham at the tournament.

The teams will head down to Camden District Netball Competition to compete over the June long weekend.
