Before the big guns buck it out in the toughest series on the planet at the PBR Monster Energy Origin Series I in Newcastle on Saturday May 3, the next generation of bull riding stars will take centre arena.
Eight junior riders, including two of our own from the New England- Bundarra’s Kassedy Carlon and Willow Tree’s Cody Sternbeck, will ride in a special exhibition ahead of the 2025 PBR Monster Energy Origin Series opener.
These are the toughest young humans in the game, riding mini bulls with the same grit and heart you’ll see from the pros. And while they won’t be competing for points, they’ll be earning plenty of fans.
“This is more than just a ride — it’s the breeding ground for the next generation of champions. These young athletes are born for this and represent the future of bull riding in Australia — and they’re ready to ride,” said PBR Australia Managing Director Glen Young.
“Australia’s fiercest sporting rivalry kicks off in 10 days – but this ain’t footy! This is bull riding Origin—PBR-style and it’s tougher, louder, and prouder than ever. The PBR Monster Energy Origin Series is back, storming into Newcastle, Brisbane and Sydney for a three-round battle of epic proportions and having our juniors ride before the big guns is part of the pathways we create for their careers.”
“Queensland hasn’t lost an Origin Series since it began in 2019, so this year, it’s going to be a fierce battle, with Queensland pumped for back-to-back victories, and NSW keen to make their mark,” he said.”
