Inverell Shire Council has a new Councillor, following the successful conclusion of the countback election conducted by the NSW Electoral Commission.

The election was triggered to fill a vacant position on Council, following the resignation of former Councillor Paul Harmon.

Both previously unsuccessful candidates nominated to participate in the countback process.

Following the formal declaration by the NSW Electoral Commission, Mr Kelvin Brown has been elected as the new councillor for Inverell Shire Council.

Mr Brown will be required to complete his affirmation or swearing of the oath ceremony before participating in Council’s ordinary meeting on the 23rd April 2025.

“On behalf of Inverell Shire Council, I would like to extend congratulations to Mr Brown and we look forward to his contributions to Council and the community.” said Mayor of Inverell Shire Council, Cr Kate Dight.
