The creativity of local youth will be on show in the Inverell CBD this week with the unveiling of a new public art initiative in Otho Street and Byron Street.
Seventeen artworks created by talented young artists aged 12 – 19 will be displayed on street flags throughout the heart of Inverell to mark New South Wales Youth Week, which commences today.
This exciting project, which has been funded by the NSW Government, aims to recognise the creativity of local youth and celebrate Youth Week.
The street flags, which will be installed along Otho and Byron Streets, feature a variety of designs reflecting the unique perspectives and talents of Inverell’s youth.
“We’re thrilled to see the artistic spirit of our young people take centre stage in such a public way,” said project coordinator Christy Galbraith from Ladybug Projects.
“This initiative highlights the incredible artistic talents within our community and the artworks include our beautiful landscape, themes such as inclusion and iconic animals of our region”.
The project was supported by students from across the community, including Ashford Central, Holy Trinity, and Macintyre High Schools.
The flags will remain on display until 18 April, offering plenty of time for the public to admire the artistic contributions of Inverell’s youth.
