2025 New England North West Regional Leadership Summit – Connecting Ideas, Creating Impact

Regardless of your industry or business size, the New England North West (NENW) Regional Leadership Summit is one of the most comprehensive business events in the New England region.

Now in its second year, the two-day event will be held from April 8 to 9 at Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Convention Centre. It will offer a schedule of informative presentations focused on Business NSW’s 5 Pillars for Business Advocacy.

Business NSW is a not-for-profit group that aims to support businesses across the state.

“People often think that we’re a government entity, but I want to emphasise that no, we are a not-for-profit business advocacy group.” said Business NSW Regional Director for New England North West Diane Grey.

“The focus areas that we have identified as being important for businesses this year and the topics that we will be covering at the Summit are the use of AI (artificial intelligence), insurance, worker’s compensation, industrial relations and energy.”

“We have a phenomenal lineup of speakers for this year.”

The key theme for the 2025 summit is Connecting Ideas, Creating Impact, which also provides the backbone for the first day of speakers.

“Day one largely focuses on building capacity and capability in our business community. The Honourable Victor Dominello will be presenting on using digital technology like AI to enhance and grow productivity,” said Ms Gray.

“We’ll also be hearing some fantastic technology insights from Microsoft CTO Rik Irons-McLean, Skills IQ CEO Yasmin King and Photo Create CEO Hugh Eastwood.”

There will also be presentations on Funding and Procurement, Green Hydrogen and Innovations in the NENW Energy Sector.

“Day two is much more people focused – we want to delve into some of the common issues businesses are facing surrounding hiring and recruitment, and the potential and confirmed changes to things like worker’s compensation and industrial relations,” said Ms Gray.

“We’ve got the Director of Australian Business Lawyers and Advisors (ABLA), Julian Arndt, speaking for two hours about the latest updates on Industrial Relations – he is a brilliant speaker and an absolute wealth of knowledge regarding IR.”

The summit provides not only an exceptional opportunity to learn necessary business operations skills and information but also an invaluable networking platform for businesses from across the region.

“The comments we got from last year’s event were overwhelmingly positive, not only from the perspective of the quality of the content delivered across the 2 days but also from the quality of connection people felt they achieved within the business community,” said Ms Gray.

Tickets are still available, and Ms Gray said that they will still honour the special early bird pricing of $299 for the two days. An additional $47 will give attendees access to the networking drinks at the conclusion of day one’s summit.

“We have some outstanding sponsors, including our major partners Telstra, Tamworth Regional Council and UNE (University of New England); because of this, we can keep costs relatively low for the event – most other summits of this kind attract fees upwards of $600,” said Ms Gray.

“And we want to see the room full—we have the capacity for 100 to attend. We’ve sold 70 tickets so far, so if you’re on the fence, please sign up. It’s such an immersive couple of days, and the knowledge you will take away with you is absolute gold!”
