The Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) annual photo competition is on again, with the Bureau looking for images to go into the 2026 Weather Calendar .
This means your shot of storms, snow, or sun-baked land could be hanging in homes and offices around the New England and Australia.
Photos don’t have to have been taken in a specific timeframe, just as long as they show Australian weather, and should be of sufficiently high quality to be reproduced in print up to A3 size.
Photographers must also have written consent of any people visible in the picture.
Entry into the competitions is free, with the BOM wanting its photos to be the truest possible representation of the weather you’ve captured, so go easy on the Photoshop – if you’re good enough to make it to the final round of judging, the BOM will request a minimally-processed version of the photo or the RAW file.
To enter, go to the BOM’s Photo Competition page, download and fill out an entry form, and email it along with your picture (or a link to your photo if it’s too large to attach) to calendarvic@bom.gov.au.
