Moree residents are invited to a night of free entertainment and fun this March, and what a relief, Damian Callinan is here to deliver it.
There’s no doubt that we could all do with a good laugh when we are facing life’s challenges. The What a Relief! Community Recovery Tour is guaranteed to provide just that and so much more when multi-award-winning comedian, actor and writer, Callinan, tours the Moree Plains Shire.
What a Relief! Sees Callinan touring under the banner of the RICOCHET project, a series of activities and events providing communities across the Moree Plains Shire with the opportunity to connect, recover and build resilience in the face of future challenges.
Damian Callinan has a swag of solo shows, TV and radio appearances to his name. He is best known to audiences as the lead actor and screenwriter of The Merger, the feature film adaptation of his one man show of the same name. The Merger has been a major success and consistently been one of the most viewed Australian films on Netflix.
Damian is also well known from his work on Skithouse, Before The Game and Backyard Ashes, as well as regular guest appearances on shows such as ‘Spicks and Specks’ and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala.
A three-time nominee for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Damian has been prolific in his output of live shows racking up a swathe of awards and nominations.
“It is his love for working in rural Australia that brings Damian on tour in the Moree Plains Shire. No stranger to northern NSW, at the height of Australia’s worst drought on record, Damian toured to over fifty country halls in disaster impacted communities.” said Organiser of the tour, Council’s Community Recovery Officer, Sandy McNaughton.
“What sets him apart is that he specifically tailors each show to individual communities. Capturing the town’s eccentricities with his unique perspective, Damian provides an opportunity for communities to see themselves in a new light, inspiring them to celebrate what it is that is remarkable about where they live.”
