Total Fire Ban continues for Friday

It’s the North Western regions’ turn for a Total Fire Ban, with the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) declaring one for tomorrow, Friday March 7.

The RFS is forecasting hot, dry and windy conditions and will implement the ban from midnight tonight in Moree Plains, Narrabri, Walgett and Warrumbungle.

Resident are urged to follow the current high fire condition advice below:

  • Be ready to act
  • There’s a heightened risk. Be alert for fires in your area.
  • Decide what you will do if a fire starts
  • If a fire starts, your life and property may be at risk. The safest option is to avoid bush fire risk areas.

A total fire ban means that no fires at all may be lit, and all fire permits are suspended, though outdoor gas and electric barbecues may be used provided certain conditions are met

Please note: The NSW RFS may issue a Harvest Safety Alert for areas of heightened risk. Harvest operators should monitor conditions and regularly check that they are operating within guidelines.

No fires may be lit in the open and all fire permits are suspended during a Total Fire Ban. Gas and electric barbeques may be used provided certain conditions are met.
