Entries are now open for one of Armidale’s feature cultural calendar events- the Armidale Eisteddfod.
The Eisteddfod hosts a variety of sections and events for a wide range of ages and abilities, offering its audiences plenty of variety.
The competition program runs from WednesdayMay 14 to June 6, with choir night, band night and the New England Championships popular drawcards.
The Gala Concert this year is scheduled for Sunday 15 June at 2pm in the historic auditorium of the Old Teacher’s College.
The Eisteddfod commences each year with music composition, which includes the presentation of composer’s works and a workshop.
Held on the 14th of May at the Old Teacher’s College event generally attracts a full audience and is an excellent way for composers young and old to showcase their works and receive feedback.
“The Armidale Eisteddfod continues to be an important performance opportunity for those in our community involved in music and drama. It is a truly community event, not reliant on government funding and supported fully by the continued sponsorship of individuals, local businesses, organisations and our volunteer base. We are fortunate to live in a city that truly values and supports the Arts.” said committee president Elizabeth Peach.
The majority of the Eisteddfod events are held in the Old Teachers’ College Auditorium.
Admission ranges from $3 for a child’s single session up to $40 for an adult’s season ticket.
Family passes for the duration of the Eisteddfod are $80 which means the whole family can attend as many sessions as they wish prior to the Gala Concert.
The Gala Concert is $5 for children and $10 for adults.
Entries close on Friday 21 March.
