A celebrity chef that has gained a huge following for his personal story and professional talents, enjoyed his guest appearance at last year’s Glen Innes Show so much that he is returning to share his passion at this year’s event on 14-15 February.
Matt Golinski, known for his regular appearances on the television series Ready Steady Cook, jumped at the chance to again be the star attraction of the Show’s Gourmet Fiesta, where he will showcase his culinary skills with cooking demonstrations, help prepare the Fiesta’s famed lunches, and inspire children with his infectious approach to produce and cooking.
On the menu will be a broad selection of local produce including the famous Rangers Valley Cattle Station beef renowned for its exceptional quality, incredible flavour and succulent, juicy tenderness.
“We are so thrilled to welcome Matt back,” said Gourmet Fiesta President Sal Molesworth.
“Not only is he a beautiful person, so is his gorgeous family who will be here with him. His organisation, technique and creativity wowed us all and everyone found his demonstrations tasty, inspired and so relatable.
“His presence last year left an incredible impression on everyone – from stallholders to attendees, and especially the school kids who were captivated by his cooking demos and engaging interactions. His inspiration and expertise truly elevated the event, and we’re looking forward to seeing him work his magic again,” she said.
Matt’s commitment to healthy produce and a positive outlook are legacies of a personal tragedy, in which he lost his first wife and three daughters in a housefire in 2011. As a result, he launched the “Plates for Mates” campaign to raise money to assist in developing techniques to help heal burns victims.
Now in it’s 23rd year, the Gourmet Fiesta is a feature of the Glen Innes Show, held in the magnificent heritage-listed Glen Innes Showground.
Over both days Matt will present cooking demonstrations, with school children treated to a special demonstration on the Friday. He will also be lending the Gourmet Fiesta team a hand with their special Gourmet Lunches for sale on Friday and Saturday from 12:00pm-2:00pm, a mouth-watering meal of Moroccan Style Slow Roasted Rangers Valley Rump, Salad of Chickpeas and Blush Tomatoes, Fresh Minted Yoghurt and Warm Pita Bread.
Throughout his demonstrations he will also be featuring produce from some of the outstanding market stalls that are part of the Gourmet Fiesta.
“Matt’s enthusiasm to return says a lot about the reputation of the Gourmet Fiesta as an event that brings the community together to share a passion for wonderful produce and good food, and we are so looking forward to having him,” Sal Molesworth said.
