Ten passionate local dancers have just returned home to the New England following an exciting weekend at the inaugural Port Macquarie Latinfest.

The festival is a vibrant celebration of Latin dance culture allowing participants to immerse themselves in workshops, performances, and social dancing over the three day event.

For dancer, Jane Grant, it was an unforgettable experience.

“It was great having access to dance teachers we wouldn’t normally-from Sydney and all over the world, such as Cuba.”

The event complemented the ever-growing Latin dance community in the New England region, with dance classes and social events now regularly held in Tamworth, Armidale, Gunnedah, Quirindi, and Narrabri.

“It’s a testament to the enthusiasm and dedication of the local dance scene, and this inaugural festival in Port Macquarie provided a perfect opportunity for members to expand their skills and connect with others who share the same passion.”

The festival featured a variety of workshops aimed at dancers of all levels, covering an exciting range of dance styles, including salsa, bachata, rueda de casino, Afro-Cuban, kizomba, and zouk.

The event was an eye-opening experience for our region’s dancers, one made possible by the hard work and commitment of the passionate team behind the festival.

“The group left inspired and eager to share their newfound skills with our local communities.”
