After 35 years spent working from a home office, Gavin and Lea McCarney’s home care business New England Care has stretched its legs and opened a bricks and mortar storefront in the heart of Glen Innes’ Grey Street.

Located next to Timbs Pharmacy, the new storefront marks the next stage of growth for New England Care (NEC), which boasts a service area spanning the entire Northern Tablelands and close to one hundred clients with offices in Inverell, Armidale and now Glen Innes.

The family-run business prides itself on knowing the names and stories of each client, with personalised care coming as standard in this high-touch, empathy driven sector.

“Our job is to make sure people stay at home, and stay healthy,” said Director Gavin McCarney.

“We support people, in their homes, to live life they way they want.”

With more than forty staff employed today, NEC has come a long way from its inception when Lea McCarney started the business following the birth of their first child in response to a lack of services for war veterans. Their focus was to be on war veterans, and since that time they’ve grown to include home care for a variety of public and private patients.

“As we grew, we took on employees, and it’s in the last three years that our business has tripled in size and we aim to add twenty new clients every year” adds McCarney.

In such a competitive market, NEC lets its work speak for itself: Most of their clientele have found NEC after being dissatisfied with their previous providers.

Add to that a recent audit from the aged care quality and safety commission which found NEC to be 100 percent compliant, and the agility and personalised care that comes with a family-run business, it becomes clear why NEC has continued to grow year on year: “Teapot diplomacy,” smiles McCarney.

“Word of mouth is a powerful thing; even more so in the country. Our clients love our service, and they tell everyone they know.”

The one thing Gavin wants people to know (aside from where to find their new office space)?

“People don’t have to put up with poor service – there are options available and it’s easy to change providers.”

The Glen Innes New England Care office is located at 244 Grey Street. More information and details on how to contact the team can be found online at www.newenglandcare.com.au.
