Country Music fans will be able to hear some of the best Aboriginal talent at the Festival this Thursday and Friday evenings at the Aboriginal Cultural Showcase, on the Toyota FanZone stage.

Aboriginal music industry icons Roger Knox and Warren H Williams are among the headline acts who will be performing alongside some homegrown Tamworth talent and a host of artists who are new to the Showcase in 2025.

Aboriginal Cultural Showcase spokesperson Joanne Stead said that it was exciting to be presenting so many new artists this year amongst a quality line up.

“In 2008, the Showcase was established as a vehicle through which we could show off the amazing talent that exists within the Aboriginal community,” she said.

“Fast forward to 2025 and its really evident how the Aboriginal community just keeps nurturing and investing in their talented young people, generation after generation.”

“It feels like the Showcase has really nailed the brief! We’ve got so much new talent coming up through the ranks. It’s such a good position to be in.”

Sponsored by NSW Aboriginal Land Council, the Aboriginal Cultural Showcase will run for its 17th year in 2025.

NSW Aboriginal Land Council Chairperson Councillor Raymond Kelly commented on how important opportunities like the Showcase are to intergenerational sharing of community stories and Aboriginal history.

“As a community, Aboriginal people have told stories about their connection to identity, culture and Country through song for tens of thousands of years. It’s just one of the ways that our communities make those stories come alive and inspire new generations.”

“It lifts the spirit to see some of our youngest, emerging artists, alongside icons of the industry, each recounting their experiences, their truths, so powerfully through their music.’’

The Aboriginal Cultural Showcase runs from 5:15pm – 10:15pm on the FanZone Stage on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 January, as part of the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
