Update – January 21

Emergency works on the distribution water main in Moree have now been rectified and completed.

However, due to the process of bleeding the lines a couple of reservoir towers are currently experiencing low water pressure due to low water levels. This may continue to affect residents for a couple more hours.

Council is requesting residents refrain from using water for external purposes until 6pm tonight, Tuesday 21 January, to allow the pressure to build back up.

Original Story

Due to urgent emergency works on a distribution water main in Moree, Moree Plains Shire Council is requesting that all residents to limit their water usage to essential indoor purposes only for the next 48 hours.

Effective immediately, Monday 20 January 2025, Council is asking that water not be used for any external purposes for the next two days.

Acting General Manager, Darryl Fitzgerald, emphasised the importance of being mindful of water consumption to preserve water in the reservoir towers for firefighting and other critical indoor needs.

The emergency works will begin on Tuesday 21 January 2025.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, as residents may experience low water pressure during the course of the works.”

“Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” Mr Fitzgerald said.
