Liverpool Plains Shire Council General Manager Gary Murphy has handed in his resignation with his final day marked for February 14, 2025.
Mr Murphy, who was appointed as General Manager by the former Council in May 2023, is leaving to take up a new opportunity outside of the local government sector.
Mayor Ken Cudmore thanked Mr Murphy for his service, wishing him well in his new role.
“Gary has provided valued experience in his time at Liverpool Plains Shire Council and led the organisation with a strong focus on improving workplace culture,” Cr Cudmore said.
“On behalf of the Councillors, I wish Gary all the best for the future and thank him for his time and service at Liverpool Plains Shire Council.”
Mayor Cudmore says an Extraordinary Meeting of Council will be held on Friday, 10 January 2025 for the purpose of commencing the recruitment and selection process for a new General Manager.
“I have no doubt that we will attract a good number of suitably qualified candidates to lead Liverpool Plains Shire Council to further success,” he said.
Mr Murphy’s departure is the third GM to go in the region, following Armidale Regional Council General Manager James Roncon who will finish up on January 10 and Moree Plains Shire Council General Manager Kelvin Tytherleigh.
