2025 Will Be a Big Year for Muster Up Delungra: A Year of Community Connection and Support
Delungra is gearing up for an exciting 2025, thanks to a generous grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).
Muster Up Delungra, formed in 2023 by local women Leah Bennett, Tammy Taylor, Mandy Mepham, and publican Felicity Menchin, has already made a remarkable difference in the community. The group has been instrumental in bolstering the number of local events and creating opportunities for residents to come together.
The non-profit group has been awarded over $23,000 to host five major community events throughout the year. The funding will help continue the group’s mission of fostering social connection and providing vital support to locals in the rural region.
Leah Bennett said the funding will provide a significant boost to the group’s ambitious plans for next year.
“The funding will help us bring people together in meaningful ways and create opportunities for locals to socialise, learn new skills, and build stronger connections with each other,” she said.
“We’re looking forward to a year full of events that will cater to everyone in the community.”
The first major event on the horizon is the Farmers BBQ in May, which will give local farmers, families, and community members the chance to relax, socialise, and enjoy a meal, music, and dancing.
“We are expecting a big turnout to this event,” said Leah. “It’s all about showing appreciation for our hard-working farmers and providing a space for everyone to unwind and connect.”
Other events planned for 2025 include educational on-farm sessions aimed at boosting knowledge and productivity for local farmers, as well as First Aid training for the Delungra community.
“These practical sessions will be beneficial for everyone in the area,” said Leah. “We’re focused on providing opportunities that will truly make a difference.”
In addition, the group will celebrate Rural Women’s Day on 15 October 2025.
“This will be a fun day to help women in our community take care of their health and connect with services they may not know about,” said Leah.
“We want to make sure our rural women know they are an integral part of our community, and this event is a way to show our support for them.”
The funding will also enable Muster Up Delungra to host another comedy and dinner night in October 2025, following the success of their recent event with renowned comedian Peter Rowsthorn. The evening was a huge hit, and the group is excited to continue this tradition. This event received recognition in the NSW State Parliament, with Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan paying tribute to the group for their work.
The FRRR grant will help make all of these events a reality, providing much-needed resources to support the group’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Delungra’s social fabric.
“The projects we fund truly matter and have a meaningful impact,” said Jill Karena from the FRRR.
“Our Strengthening Rural Communities program proves that a grant, no matter how small, can make a big impact in a regional place.”
