Moree Plains Shire Council invites the community to create a shared vision for the Shire to help develop the Community Strategic Plan (CSP).
The CSP, called Our Moree Plains – Our vision to 2036, is a ten-year plan that identifies the priorities and goals for our Shire. Council is required to review the plan with the community after each Local Government Election.
Moree Plains Shire Mayor Susannah Pearse encourages the community to get involved in the consultation activities planned over the coming months. The CSP online survey has officially launched where everyone who completes the survey can go into the draw to win one of five $50 Love Local Gift Cards.
Council will have a stall at the Boggabilla Colour Run and Waterplay on Friday 17 January 2025 and Balo Square Moree on Friday 23 January 2025 where the community can come and say hi and speak about their priorities.
Registrations have opened for a series of online or in person community workshops across the Shire.
Downloadable kitchen table kits will be available for families, friends and workplaces to host informal discussions about the future of the Shire.
“If there’s something you’d like for the Moree Plains, now is the time to tell us.” Mayor Susannah Pearse said.
“The CSP guides all of Council’s activities for the Council term and details, how we will measure success and the other agencies or organisations we will partner with to achieve the community’s shared vision.”
“We understand that not everyone has access to the internet and our staff at the Moree Community Library and the Dhiiyaan Aboriginal Centre are able to assist those who wish to use the local community facilities to have their say.”
“Additionally, every household across the Shire will receive a flyer in their letterbox with a reply-paid feedback form about the CSP. I encourage all residents to complete the form and send it back to Council at no charge.”
Children and young people aged 16 and under also have the chance to win up to $150 in Love Local Gift Cards by entering an art competition. Entries must represent the entrant’s ideas and vision for Moree Plains and what they hope to see for the Shire in the next 10 years.
Entries are available through Council’s Administration Office or at Santa’s workshop where friends and families are invited to take a photo with Santa at 96 Balo St Moree.
All activities will conclude on 14 February 2025. For more information about the CSP or to participate in this important project, scan the QR code or head to Council’s website www.mpsc.nsw.gov.au or call Council on 02 6757 3222.
