In the lead up to Christmas, Mungindi residents are invited to reconnect, recharge and replenishing with a special holiday morning tea.
A Christmas Morning Tea will be held on Tuesday 17 December at Flock Café from 10am – 12pm (NSW time), providing a wonderful opportunity to check in, catch up, and be inspired to thrive.
The Morning Tea is a Ricochet Community Recovery event. Ricochet (Recovery in Communities – Creative Healing Enabling Transformation) is a series of events that provides communities across the Moree Plains Shire, who have been impacted by compounded disaster, with the opportunity to connect, recover and build capacity and resilience to contend with future events.
Community Recovery Officer with the Moree Plains Shire Council, Sandy McNaughton, says the event is an opportunity for the community to come together and reconnect.
“Coming to the end of the year is a perfect time to reflect on our overall wellbeing. Some of us may be experiencing a sense of emotional and physical exhaustion, especially after an extremely busy harvest period.” said McNaughton.
“The connection that comes with being in a community can act as a support system for members when they require encouragement and strength.”
Councillors will also be in attendance to meet with the community to discuss the Community Strategic Plan (CSP). The CSP, called Our Moree Plains – Our vision to 2036, is a ten-year plan that identifies the priorities and goals for our Shire. Council is required to review the plan with the community after each Local Government Election.
Special guest, Letitia Cross, Co-ordinator with the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program, is a mental health advocate, educator, public speaker and professional focussed on building rural Australia’s sustainability.
Letitia will be providing practical tips on wellness and self-care, as well as nurturing mental, physical, and social well-being.
The community of Mungindi are invited to come and enjoy a fabulous and inspiring event.
“It all comes back to building resilience, confidence and capacity. We need our communities to be in the best possible position to face future challenges and to recover from future disasters. As well as having an opportunity to celebrate all the positives about our wonderfully resilient communities!”
Those attending will also receive an invaluable ‘Grab and Go’ Bag to take home.
