It’s that time of year again when finding that perfect gift is at the front of everyone’s mind.
Whether you’re looking to say Merry Christmas, thank you for the year or happy birthday, Glen Innes’ Rhubarb and Rosie team has just the thing.
Janie Kent, owner of Rhubarb and Rosie, says that owning a florist was certainly never on her agenda.
“I took over the shop six and a half years ago. I was actually working at the local nursery but then had been doing a bit of cake decorating on the side, and I’ve always loved my gardening,” Ms Kent said.
“Then, the owners at the time approached me and asked if I’d be interested in taking it on. After working alongside them for a little while, I took full ownership and have been working busily to create our vision for Rhubarb and Rosie ever since.”
“I just always knew that the store would run with a botanical theme, and the rest followed that idea.”
From a simple florist, the store has now evolved into a one-stop gift shop for the town. Beautiful flowers are still very much an option, but now they bloom alongside gourmet foods, beauty products, candles, soft toys, local crafts, and plant care.
“I always wanted the cupcakes to feature as well—in the early days, I was still doing cake decorating at home, but two years ago, we installed a kitchen at the shop, so we can bake on site now. Our cupcake and flower packages are one of our best sellers,” said Ms Kent.
Rhubarb and Rosie is home to a team of expert gift-givers, made up of Ms Kent, Leanne and Janie’s own daughter.
“The team is so passionate and creative, and coming up with perfect gift hampers for people is definitely a highlight of our jobs,” said Ms Kent.
Rhubarb and Rosie are now proudly offering delivery to Glen Innes, Inverell, Guyra, Armidale, Deepwater, Emmaville, and Tenterfield. Ms Kent says they can often manage same-day delivery on weekdays if orders are in early enough.
“We’ve got a few hampers listed on the website to give people some ideas, but really, we find the best way to find the perfect combination of things is just to talk to people,” said Ms Kent.
“You don’t even need to come in store. Just give us a call and tell us what you’re looking for, and we’ll be more than happy to talk you through our options so that we can put a genuinely personalised touch on your hamper.”
Of course, ‘Tis the Season for thinking about all things Christmas, and Janie assures us they’re just about to launch some of their ever-popular Christmas gift lines.
“We’ll be starting to take orders for our Christmas Favourites gift box very shortly; this one is always very popular because it features a selection of our house-made treats.”
The team will be busily working right up to lunchtime on Christmas Eve, and Ms Kent and her team welcome all to pop in or call and say hi, have a chat about how they can help you find the right gift, or browse their gorgeous range for yourself.
“Whether it’s flowers or a hamper, we love making and sending beautiful creative gifts – It’s really all about making people special.”
