Australian-based renewable energy developer, ACE Power, is moving forward with plans to establish the Hillview Energy Hubnear Uralla, a multi-technology energy project that could contribute significant new clean energy resources to the region.
If approved, the Hub will feature a 1,000 MW Battery Energy Storage System, a 250–300 MW solar farm, and a 200–300 MW wind farm. The Hillview Energy Hub will help ensure that homes and businesses have access to reliable electricity and stable energy prices.
Each component will be developed in stages, beginning with the battery and solar projects, to meet the growing demand within the National Electricity Market.
Development Manager Clancy Bowman described the proposed site as “ideal for renewable energy development” due to its open, cleared land, strong wind resource and direct access to the proposed New England REZ transmission lines. However, he emphasised that ACE Power is committed to designing the Hub with the local environment and community in mind.
“By drawing on insights from technical studies and listening to feedback from local residents, we’ll shape the Hub to minimise impacts and address local needs. These inputs will be essential in creating a development that respects both the environment and community priorities,” he said.
ACE Power has launched an extensive series of studies and surveys to thoroughly assess potential environmental and social impacts.
The company will also submit a Scoping Report for the proposed Hillview Wind Farm to the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in November, outlining its initial plans for the wind component. This document will be available online for public review and comment via the Major Projects Planning Portal.
To support community involvement, ACE Power will hold a series of drop-in sessions in Uralla in early December.
“These drop-in sessions will be a great opportunity for interested residents to see what we’re planning and meet our team,” Mr. Bowman said.
“Open dialogue is critical to the success of our planning process. Community feedback will guide us in refining and enhancing our project plans.”
Drop-in sessions will be held at the Uralla Memorial Hall on Wednesday 4 December between 5:30pm – 7:30pm and Thursday 5 December from 10:00am–1:00pm.
