The countdown has officially begun to the Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association’s (ABCRA) major annual event, with tickets to the 2024 National Finals Rodeo (NFR) now on sale.

The National Finals Rodeo will run during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, from 23-25 January at the Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre (AELEC) and will see the country’s best junior and senior Rodeo athletes go head-to-head across all Rodeo disciplines.

ABCRA Executive Officer, Craig Young says the 2024 National Finals Rodeo is shaping up to be a fantastic event, with the top Rodeo competitors from each event invited to take part.

“We have a huge three days of competition planned for the 2024 NFR, with competitors travelling from all over the country, including Western Australia to take part,” he said.

“The junior finals will kick off at 8am each morning, with the senior riders taking to the arena from 6pm each night for our main event, where our best athletes will go up against our toughest stock.”

The top 15 competitors from each Rodeo discipline have been invited to compete at the National Finals, with riders accumulating earnings and points by competing at ABCRA affiliated events throughout the 2024 calendar year.

“The official 2024 Rodeo point score season will end on 30 November,” said Mr Young.

“With a handful of ABCRA affiliated events left to run for the year, competitors will be putting everything on the line in a bid to qualify for the National Finals.”

The 2024 National Finals Rodeo will include a dedicated family night on 23 January, where all kids aged 12 years and under will be free with a paying adult ticket.

Corporate VIP packages will also be available each night of the event, with country music entertainment part of the main events.

The 2024 National Finals Rodeo will also raise money for local charities with the Tough Enough to Wear Pink Rodeo on Friday night supporting the NSW Cancer Council.

More than $75,000 has been raised for the NSW Cancer Council since 2011 through dedicated rodeo events.

“Pink Ribbon events raise both awareness around women’s cancers and funding for local initiatives and support services like Inala House and Cancer Council’s Accommodation support program, Transport to Treatment and Home Help programs. These are vital services for local women and their families as they undergo cancer treatment and as part of their recovery.” said Shaen Fraser from the Cancer Council.

“Donating just $10 can help pay for an Information Pack to help a woman cope after surgery, and a donation of $50 can help fund a call to a cancer nurse on 13 11 20, that informs and supports a woman through a breast cancer diagnosis.”

Saturday’s main event will be the Good Enough to Wear Green Bruce Green Memorial, in aid of Lifeline and local mental health support services.

The 2024 National Finals Rodeo will get underway on Thursday, 23 January at AELEC and will conclude on Saturday, 27 January.

“We’d also like to thank our major 2024 National Finals Rodeo sponsors, Whitehaven Coal, YETI and Marsh Carney and Impulse Print, as well as Tamworth Regional Council, Pryde’s Easifeed, KIX Country, Seven and Affinity Equine Insurance.”
