The New England community will benefit from a $415,000 investment by the NSW Government to upgrade existing facilities on the Tamworth Hospital campus.
This funding is part of the State Government’s $12 million investment in 61 projects under the Regional Health Minor Works Program.
“The NSW Government is committed to investing in upgrading health facilities to support better health outcomes for rural and regional communities.” said NSW Health Minister, Ryan Park.
“The Rural Minor Works Program will allow Hunter New England Local Health District to upgrade equipment and health facilities to enhance the working environment for health staff and improve patient experiences.”
The upgrades include $165,000 for a purpose-built, accessible bathroom at Johnston House for patients, their families and carers attending community health appointments.
Patients in the cardiac unit and those undergoing exercise-based rehabilitation will also benefit from a $250,000 funding boost for upgraded flooring, acoustic improvements, and reverse cycle air conditioning.
“These upgrades are essential in ensuring safe and accessible services for all community members attending Tamworth Hospital campus.” said Hunter New England Local Health District Executive Director of Infrastructure, Planning, and Sustainability Dr Ramsey Awad.
“We thank the NSW Government for their support, which will help extend the life of our facilities and ensure that we can continue to deliver high-quality patient centred care in a comfortable and accessible environment.”
