Pathfinders will be hosting The Clothesline Project, a powerful community event aimed at raising awareness and giving a voice to victims of gender-based violence.

The events will take place during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, offering a safe and therapeutic space for participants and community supporters to come together, share stories, and stand in solidarity against violence.

Event Details:

  • Inverell: November 27, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Inverell Town Hall (Otho Street and Evans Street, Inverell)
  • Armidale: November 25, 2024, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Legacy Hall (89 Faulkner Street, Armidale)

The Clothesline Project is an interactive event where survivors of violence, along with their supporters, are invited to express their emotions by decorating t-shirts. Each t-shirt becomes a canvas for personal stories, messages of hope, and expressions of solidarity. These t-shirts are then displayed on a public clothesline, symbolising the voices that can no longer remain silent.

Pathfinders Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) will facilitate the events, creating a supportive and healing environment for participants.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share their experiences, support one another, and contribute to raising awareness about the impact of gender-based violence. Counsellors will be available to provide emotional support and assistance to those in need, ensuring a safe space for participants throughout the events. The Inverell event is proudly supported by Best Community Shed, which has generously donated to make this initiative possible.

“The Clothesline Project is an opportunity for people to share their stories and show support for those affected by gender-based violence,” said Janatha McKay Pathfinders, SHS Coordinator.

“We welcome survivors, their loved ones, and community members to join us in standing together against violence.”

Pathfinders is committed to providing a therapeutic and respectful space for all participants. Whether you are a survivor of violence or a community supporter, your participation will help amplify the message that everyone has the right to live free from violence and fear.
