Isabelle Devos is an artist based in Armidale who was absolutely thrilled to hear that her painting, The Corner Shop Held a Certain Significance, has been selected as a finalist for an esteemed national art prize, The Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.
Devos exhibits locally as well as with galleries in Sydney and Brisbane, and is most known for her rural New England landscapes and small town streetscapes.
The subject of Devos’ large painting, The Corner Shop Held a Certain Significance is the corner building which is currently home to Café Patisserie in Armidale. This building in particular has been a favourite subject for Devos, who has painted it at least six times over the 20 years she has lived in Armidale.
“There is something special about the way the angles of this building catch the light as well as the wonderful colour of the building, of course. And I love having a coffee and treat since the Patisserie moved in!” said Devos.
