A cherished New England animal rescue organisation has been named the latest recipient of the Greater New England Community Funding Program.
Kindly Animal Sanctuary provides a haven for animals in need, many of which have been rescued from difficult situations such as neglect, natural disasters and domestic violence.
In addition to their rescue work, the sanctuary plays a vital role in educating young people about animal welfare and conservation through its dedicated youth programs.
The recently awarded funds will be used to build essential infrastructure to house the growing number of maremma sheepdogs that have been rescued by the sanctuary. These new facilities will also allow for the expansion of their youth programs, creating even more opportunities for the New England community to get involved.
Naomi Hooper, Founder of Kindly Animal Sanctuary, expressed heartfelt thanks for the support.
“This funding from Greater Bank couldn’t have come at a better time, and we’re immensely grateful.” said Hooper.
“Our maremmas come to us from challenging backgrounds, and its our mission to give them the safe and nurturing home they deserve. This grant will help us build a new shed to ensure they’re well cared for and comfortable year-round.”
“We’re always fundraising and need all the support we can get because we operate entirely on donations. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a huge difference to the lives of the animals and the future of the sanctuary.”

The entrants for the October round of the #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program, where there’s another $3,000 up for grabs, are New England Antique Machinery Club Inc, Gunnedah Athletics Centre and North Tamworth Bowling Club.
Voting is open until 5.00pm Wednesday 30 October at https://www.greater.com.au/greaternewengland which is also where community groups can register their interest in being part of the program.
