October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region.
Today we have (clearly run out of clever puns and) three c’s: a concreter, chimney sweep, and a computer shop.
Arrowcrete Concreting 🖥️
Inverell’s Dylan Arrowsmith is bringing quality concreting services to the New England region with his family-run business, Arrowcrete Concreting. With over 7 years of experience, Dylan has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality concrete work for both residential and commercial projects.
Arrowcrete Concreting caters to all concreting needs, offering services that range from concrete slabs to more specialized features like pool coping, fire pits, spraycrete, ramps, and custom steps. No job is too big or small for Dylan and his team. “If you can imagine it, we can build it,” Dylan says.
This locally owned, licensed business provides a professional experience from start to finish. Known for their quality finishes and expert craftsmanship, Arrowcrete is dedicated to making each project a success.
Whether you’re in Inverell or anywhere else in the New England area, Arrowcrete Concreting delivers top-notch service with attention to detail and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
They also extend their services to areas beyond New England for clients in need of reliable concreting work.
Keystone Chimney Sweep 🖥️
Keystone Chimney Sweep is a small, local chimney sweeping and fireplace maintenance business based in Armidale run by me, Preston Zambo.
I began chimney sweeping business at the beginning of 2024 however have a long history of trade experience in the New England region. I started my own handyman business in 2017 and after seeing the need for quality fire place cleaning and maintenance decided to specialise.
I specialise in sweeping, cleaning and maintenance of existing fireplaces. This includes open, traditional fireplaces, slow combustion stoves etc. As part of my service I can travel within an hour radius of Armidale.
There are many components that make up a fireplace and for it to function well, all need to be kept in good order. As part of the service provided I inspect, clean and repair existing systems. This includes firebox, fire bricks, baffle plates, glass and seals, flues/chimneys and Cowlings. If there is an issue found, I can fix it. I can also repair brick chimneys and cap them if no longer being used to prevent unwanted house guests.
I can install bird mesh to prevent nesting birds and/or rats. In certain circumstances I may be able to remove the guests or advise on who to contact.
I have extensive knowledge of timber types and how they burn and can advise on storage and seasoning times to gain maximum efficiency of the timber burnt and reduce the build up of creosote (a major contributor to flue blockages).
A fire that burns well should produce no visible smoke and therefore have no effect on neighbouring homes and be environmentally friendly. I make sure to inspect the whole system from top hat down to ensure your fire will burn efficiently, keeping you safe and warm.
I grew up using fire to heat our home. Humans have been using fire for warmth and cooking for thousands of years and it remains one of the most effective ways to heat and cook. I am passionate about this amazing resource and dedicated to improving the efficiency and safety of my clients’ fireplaces so they can feel safe using fire and enjoy the unique benefits it offers.
Armidale Computers 🖥️
Armidale Computers has provided Armidale and the region with Computer and IT Sales, Service and Repairs for over 23+ years. We are a great alternative to shopping online due to our level of After-Sales Service we offer both In-Store and On-Site Call outs.
Armidale Computers has supported thousands of clients including the end users and business operator throughout this time. with everything from quality, high-end Home Office equipment and PC Gaming Systems, up to the supply and management of Critical Systems required for Business Operations.
We have built up a large range of supplier relationships over the years and if we don’t have it in store, chances are we can get it, mostly with a 1-3 day lead time.
Armidale Computers has been owned and run by Mark MacDonald. He started from a small office at the Brickworks in 2001 assisting a local businessman with his day-to-day IT needs. After this, he opened the first retail location for Armidale Computers on Jessie St, next to the Pearl Pearch. A few years later he moved the business into the old Tillbrook’s Fast Food shop, next to Moxons Bakery on Marsh Street and has been there since.
It may be a sign of the times but the after-sales service we offer is not available at many locations in this day and age. The pricing we offer is competitive, and the products we stock are chosen because of the quality. not because they are cheap and have high-profit margins.
Armidale Computers has always been family-owned and employed local people.
Throughout October, we’ll run stories highlighting the great local businesses we have right here in our communities. This is a free service – the businesses highlighted have not paid for this story.
