October is Small Business Month! And to celebrate, we’re highlighting some of the great small businesses we have throughout the region.

Today we have a local beekeeping business, a store of crystals and more, and the best ever craft shop you’ve probably never heard of.

Wall’s Honey Co 🖥️

Wall’s Honey Co. is an award-winning, family owned and run beekeeping business operating in Nemingha.

Wall’s Honey Co. is proudly a family owned and run business. Justin is our head beekeeper, and is responsible for the health and happiness of our bees. Katelyn is his sidekick who helps out with the bees and the day-to-day operations of the business while coordinating the activities of our two budding beekeeping apprentices – Lulu (5) and Lachie (3).

We are committed to ethical, sustainable and sustainable and environmentally gentle beekeeping practices and keep our bees within the New England region of NSW. Our boutique honey is pure and single origin, ensuring the honey you receive is of the highest quality and just as nature intended.

We handmake hydrating natural lip balms, beautiful beeswax candles in locally made pottery and beeswax wraps using our own beeswax.

Unlike many competitors, the packaging for all our products is proudly plastic free. We package them in materials that are gentler on our environment and more readily recycled. Our premium bottled honey is packaged in glass jars with aluminium closures so reusing or repurposing by the consumer or recycling is much more energy and output efficient. This means our customers can enjoy our premium, single origin honey without worrying about the damage that plastic packaging is doing to our environment.

Onyx Castle 🖥️

Onyx Castle, a thriving small business that started as a hobby in 2019, has grown into a destination for unique, handcrafted crystal jewellery and alternative treasures.

Originally established in Newcastle, Onyx Castle now operates from a small farm on the edge of the Dorrigo Plateau. While Onyx Castle primarily serves customers online, you will also find them at many events across the New England region like Seasons of New England, Thunderbolt’s Festival, and The Black Gully Festival.

Specialising in a variety of handmade crystal jewellery, Onyx Castle has expanded its collection to include sterling silver pieces, onyx homewares, crystals, and esoteric and witchy supplies. Customers can expect a diverse range of products, from crystal pendants to alternative decor, each item crafted with care and passion by a former Uralla resident who enjoys a balance of Gothic aesthetics and country living.

What makes Onyx Castle stand out is its personalised service. The team is dedicated to creating custom pieces that cater to individual tastes. If a customer has a specific request, the business goes above and beyond to source or create the perfect item, ensuring that every experience is unique.

Onyx Castle is more than just a crystal shop—it’s a magical journey into the world of alternative styles and mystical craftsmanship. Whether online or in person at a local festival, this family-run business invites you to discover something truly special.

Bingara Wattle Arts & Crafts

Bingara Wattle Arts & Crafts is a not-for-profit organisation run entirely by dedicated volunteers and give back to the community any profits they make.

Bingara Wattle Arts & Crafts is not just a craft shop; it’s a must-see destination that showcases the creativity and talent of our local community.

The co-op comprises 70 talented members from various regions, including Western Australia, Townsville, Brisbane, and the Central Coast. Many of the artisans hail from Bingara, infusing this special craft shop with local flair and creativity.

The shop is managed by a passionate team of five volunteers, led by Gail, whose enthusiasm for the craft shines through every item on display.

“We all love being in the shop and it shows,” Gail said.

“We are very unique as we have so much to offer and we pride ourselves on the excellent quality our members put into their goods.”

What sets this special place apart is the exceptional quality and variety of hand-crafted goods available, including quality quilts and many other amazing creations.

Explore our amazing array of locally-made items for children and adults alike at 62 Maitland Street Bingara.
