October is National Safe Work Month, raising awareness of workplace safety for businesses and employees.

This year Narrabri and North West Training (NNWT) is part of a series of free events across Narrabri this October, in support of National Safe Work Month, in collaboration with SafeWork NSW.

NNWT says they are committed to highlighting the importance of National Safe Work Month throughout the Narrabri business community and beyond.

“The 2024 theme, ‘Safety is Everyone’s Business,’ couldn’t be more true. Ensuring that everyone returns home safely from work each day is a shared responsibility,” said Louise Tout from NNWT.

“We want to ensure both staff and community members understand that safety is a priority, not just at work, but in everyday life.”

As part of the campaign, NNWT will also partner with Narrabri Shire Council for Small Business Month activities. These sessions will focus on workplace safety through workshops and interactive information sessions.

Each week of October has a key theme and over the course of the month each of these themes will be explored and promoted through a variety of sessions aiming at shining a light on safety in the workplace.

Throughout October, each week will focus on a different safety theme. These themes will be highlighted through a range of events, including a BBQ at Bunnings with SafeWork NSW, where free safety information packs will be distributed, and learning lunches at The Exchange Narrabri, covering topics such as musculoskeletal injury prevention. The month will conclude with a tradie risk management workshop, followed by a round of golf and lunch.

“We are pleased to be partnering with SafeWork NSW and Narrabri Shire Council to deliver these free events to the community in support of Safe Work Month 2024,” Louise said.
