Uralla is the one Council area in the New England not waiting for today’s distribution of preferences. Their council was already declared in August, after the exact number of candidates nominated to fill the vacant positions.

Uralla did still have to vote, however, with a referendum on abolishing the ward system and directly electing the mayor.

The changes to remove the ward system will come into effect from the next election. As Uralla has a directly elected mayor, there will be no mayoral election held within council.
