After almost seven years away, Walcha’s New England Naturopathy has reopened, bringing holistic health services back to town.

Located in the business centre, right next to the Telecottage on Fitzroy Street, the clinic offers a variety of naturopathic treatments, including western herbal medicine and nutritional guidance tailored to each individual’s needs.

Local naturopath Olivia Nivison leads the clinic. A qualified practitioner with over a decade of experience and a Bachelor of Health Science, plus a postgraduate certificate in Advanced Naturopathic Medicine, Olivia is passionate about helping people on their health journeys.

“Naturopathy is unique as it provides long term holistic health support that looks past your current symptoms, to map illness pattern over the lifespan.” Olivia said.

The clinic also offers functional testing and individual compounding of herbs and supplements for a personalised approach.

After initially opening the clinic in 2012, she closed it in 2017 to focus on her young family. Now that her youngest is in kindergarten, she’s ready to dive back into her practice, including collaborating with other health professionals in the area to provide a holistic approach to health care.

“I work closely with a massage therapist here in Walcha and have great relationships with local doctors and pharmacists,” she said.

She also connects with allied health providers in Armidale, and participates in a local study group that fosters collaboration among practitioners.

She reopens the clinic with some new skills to share, having continued her studies while the clinic was closed and completing a Graduate Certificate in Advanced Naturopathic Medicine.

“This program focuses on evidence-based practice and how complementary and conventional medicine can work together,” she said.

“I also completed studies in integrative mental health and gastro-intestinal health.”

The clinic is open by appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with additional availability by arrangement, whether in-person or via telehealth.

“I am very excited to set up the clinic again in Walcha. I would encourage anyone who is interested in how naturopathy can help them, to book a free 15-minute phone appointment to find out more,” Olivia said.
