Adults across the region looking to learn a new skill or expand their hobbies are invited to participate in Adult Learners Week, a nationwide celebration of lifelong learning and education.

From Sunday 1 September to Saturday 7 September all libraries in our Local Government Area will be hosting a series of engaging events and activities designed to inspire and support adult learners in our community.

Throughout the week, attendees can expect a variety of events tailored to different interests and skill levels. Sessions on the program include:

  • In conversation event with Tamworth’s champion adult learner Grahame Neville
  • Book Group Discussion with Author Hugh Mackay (via zoom)
  • Art Kintsugi Workshop
  • Fermenting Sauerkraut
  • Tech Savvy Seniors
  • Craft and Chat
  • Library Choir
  • Masterpiece and Mingle
  • Family History Workshop
  • Audiobook Smartphone Setup Sessions
  • Introduction to Cross Stich Workshop
  • 3D Printed Buttons Workshop
  • CWA Cake Decorating Workshop

Tamworth City Library will also extend opening hours from Monday 2 to Friday 6 September, allowing visitors to read, borrow and study to 8pm.

Tamworth Regional Council Manager Learning Communities, Kay Delahunt said Adult Learners Week is an opportunity to highlight the importance of learning beyond traditional schooling.

“We believe in the transformative power of learning at any stage of life, and we are excited to showcase the diverse learning opportunities available to our community,” she said.

Many of the events will be free to attend, however some will require bookings due to limited places.
