Tenterfield Shire Council has recently completed construction of a new $9.6 million Water Filtration Plant.
This project was jointly funded project between Safe and Secure Water Program (NSW Government) contributing $7 million and Building Better Regions Fund (Federal Government) which contributed $2.625 million to construct a new water filtration plant for the Tenterfield community.
The new plant can treat up to 2.6ML per day and is able to treat bore water if the town needs to switch to an alternative source when the Tenterfield Dam is low, due to droughts.
The new Water Filtration Plant commenced delivering water to the reservoir and servicing the township of Tenterfield with water on 2nd of May 2024.
The final performance testing of the Water Filtration Plant is nearing completion with the final four week testing period ending this month. At the completion of this testing, the Water Filtration Plant will have completed all performance testing and will be fully operational. Performance testing is carried out to ensure that the Plant has the design. capacity to cater for future water demand.
To mark this occasion, Senator Anthony Chisholm, Federal Assistant Minister for Education, Regional Development and Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry will attend a plaque unveiling and tour at 12.45pm on Tuesday 27 August 2024.
