From country Victoria to the city of Townsville, Daisy Lamb has now followed her heart to her new home to Narrabri.

Daisy moved to the New England in December 2023 in the hopes of her forever after.

“I was originally from Mildura in Victoria and then moved to Townsville in 2018, and then moved to Narrabri from Townsville… because I won [tv show] Farmer Wants a Wife and I moved to be with my farmer.”

That is Farmer Todd (Todd Melbourne) from Baan Baa for those who missed it.

And while Todd won Daisy’s heart, it seems Narrabri has too.

A big Narrabri family welcome

“It has been wonderful, it’s a really great community, from Gunnedah, Wee Waa, Narrabri, Baan Baa and everywhere in between, everyone has been really kind, and they’ve been extremely welcoming.”

“I love the community here. Everyone sort of gets in and supports everyone. And even though people don’t really know me, they’ll come up to me in the street and just introduce themselves. It has been super nice.”

“It is a very family-orientated community with lots of big families in the area, which is fantastic to see.”

Daisy says Narrabri feels like home, giving off similar country vibes to her hometown Mildura. And she has enjoyed the shift back in pace from the lights of Townsville, however, she will need to keep pace with the Melbourne’s.

“The Melbourne’s are obviously one of the biggest families in the area, and I keep meeting more and more cousins and brothers and sisters and everyone. But its great.”

While small country towns have their perks, they also have their flaws.

“The cold, that’s the worst thing. I’m not a cold girl, but I’m adjusting.”

But Daisy hasn’t let this dampen her ambition or hinder her passion for the country.

“The hardest adjustment was moving away from having everything so readily available like clothing and shopping, but I’m actually starting my own active wear brand, so I’m very excited,” said Daisy.

And there are surprises around every corner.

“The sporting community has been surprising,”

“When there isn’t much to do, there is sport- equestrian, cricket, touch, league, netball, soccer.”

Location, location, location

Location is key to any successful move, and that is one Daisy knows all too well, after all, she is a Sales Agent with Hennessy Real Estate in Narrabri.

And while Todd (and by default, Narrabri) chose her, she was easily enticed to the cotton capital.

“Locality to home in regional Victoria, was a big thing for me. We are 12 hours away from my parents, which is closer than the 24 hours from Townsville,”

“But I did my research, and it is close to Tamworth, with a big equestrian community, and being so into horses, that was a big win for me and something that really excited me as well.”

Finding somewhere to live anywhere in Australia is proving a challenge and although Daisy was able to find home with Todd on the farm, her professional experience in real estate says looking regionally could open more opportunities.

“Being in a regional town in New South Wales, it obviously gives first homebuyers more of a foothold to get into the market,”

“It’s a lot easier to buy here, rather than Newcastle or Sydney.”

“Just do it”

Daisy’s journey to what we would consider ‘God’s Country’ has been like no one else’s, but she does have some words of wisdom for those considering a change to the area.

“If you are a really independent person or if you are moving here for family reasons, it is a really great community, and people seem to settle really well and there are plenty of job opportunities.”

“So, I would say just do it. Give it a go, you might love it.”
