What do you get when you combine a historical pioneer village, over 200 impressive vehicles, and a number of incredible local charities? Motormania Inverell of course, and it’s revved up and ready to go for Sunday 18 August 2024.

President of Sapphire City Motor Sports Club, and event organiser, Spanner Tanner, said, “We had about 245 vehicles in the car show last year and we’re hoping for 300 this year.”

The Motor show, which has been running for around 7 years now, with some time off for COVID has steadily been growing in popularity over the years both for participants in the show, and attendees on the day.

“Entry is via gold coin donation and we give all of that back to the Pioneer Village where we hold the day. Last year, we donated $3000 so that gives you an idea of around how many people came out for the day,” said Mr Tanner.

“I think it remains such an excellent event that people love because it’s just so casual – there’s no prizes, there’s no crazy competition its just a great family day out.”

The event as always is a great testament to community spirit. As with previous years all proceeds will go to charity.

“The markets that run alongside us on the day are the only thing that makes money for themselves. Everything else is for charity – so all the food options will be raising money for things like the Westpac Rescue Chopper, Rotary and Girl guides,” said Mr Tanner.

“Last year we also donated a further $12,500 to local charities including Breast Cancer Inverell, Prostate Cancer Inverell, the Westpac Rescue Chopper and VRA Rescue Inverell. We’ll be deciding who we’ll donate the proceeds of this year’s event to at our next meeting.”

The day is also a huge boon to the local economy, with people travelling from across the region to attend.

“This year we’ve got people coming from across the New England area, as well as from the Gold Coast and South Brisbane and many of them will be staying in town. It’s so good for the town and we’d really like to see the local Council getting a bit more involved in the future,” said Mr Tanner.

Gates for Motor Mania open at 7.30am and entry is via a gold coin donation.
