After working in larger traditional accounting firms, the Highlight Accounting & Advisory team decided it was time for a change. Armed with a vision to break away from convention, they set their focus on redefining how businesses handle their tax and accounting needs.

Highlight’s mission was clear from the start: to challenge the status quo of the industry.

Highlight founder, Clint Bourke, said “We’re committed to providing transparent, fixed monthly fee services that eliminate the surprise of unexpected bills.”

This approach resonated with businesses seeking stability and predictability in their financial management.

“The thing we find our clients really appreciate is our help desk support included in the monthly fixed fees.”

“A client isn’t on a call with us thinking about it adding to their bill. They know we are spending the extra time because we genuinely care,” said Bradley Handebo.

Central to their strategy was investing in the team. Each member is not only skilled in Xero and MYOB but is also committed to delivering technical expertise that enhances efficiencies for their clients.

“Our staff are committed to passing their knowledge on to our clients, helping them get the most out of their business systems,” said Rachel Griffith.

“That’s when we can see we’re making a real difference to their lives and to the success of their businesses.”

Maintaining a manageable client-to-staff ratio is crucial. By limiting their client base per team member, Highlight guarantee a high level of service.

“We insist on keeping all client services local, ensuring personalised attention and quality control,” Clint said.

With a promise to complete all client work before Christmas following each financial year end, this sets a new standard of efficiency and client care.

The additional capacity also allows their team to enjoy a healthy work-life balance.

“We’re often out of the office, doing things together as a team. We really enjoy the balance,” said Matt Scott.

Understanding the challenges faced by businesses is Highlight’s trademark.

“We dedicate ourselves to not only addressing current issues but also anticipating future needs. Our extensive network of experts ensures that our clients have access to a wide array of specialised support beyond traditional accounting services,” said Brooke Williams.

Technology plays a pivotal role in their operations. Leveraging digital tools, they transcend geographical boundaries, providing a high level of service to clients regardless of their location.

Together, Highlight is forging new paths and helping shape the future of accounting, guided by a philosophy of proactive innovation and client-centred service.

“Our success wouldn’t have been possible without the trust and support of our clients, who continually inspire us with their entrepreneurial spirit,” Clint said.
