Bingara will come alive this weekend with all things Orange, with the annual Happy Days Orange Festival.

In 1998 it was decided to hold an annual festival to emphasise the importance of Bingara’s orange trees whilst celebrating Bingara’s cultural heritage. The festival features street markets, street parades, pageants, sporting and cultural activities and has grown enormously to attract crowds in excess of 1500 each year.

The festivities begin with the annual Orange Picking Ceremony and Harvest tomorrow, July 5. This much loved tradition begins at the Bingara RSL club from 11am and pays tribute to the town’s fallen soldiers.

Then tomorrow night, test your wits in a Trivia Night at the Roxy Theatre. Trivia starts at 6.30pm, and you can BYO nibblies or order a plate. A bar will be operating, and a great night out is guaranteed for the affordable cost of $10. There’ll also be live music at the Sportsman’s Hotel if trivia isn’t your thing.

Saturday is the main day, with a full schedule of events and attractions.

The Main Stage will have a series of performances from 10.15 am onwards, including Bingara Preschool and Central School students, Memphis Moovers Trio and Sydney Swing Katz.

The Orange Festival Grand Parade will get under way at 2pm.

There’ll also be two kid’s zones in operation with plenty to see and do for kids at the Police Residence Yard and Bingara Museum, a classic car display between Finch and Keera Streets, tours of the Roxy Theatre every 30 minutes, and a best dressed competition.

Pop over to Gwydir Oval on Saturday as well because the Bingara Bullets Old Boys Day 2024 is on as well. Four great games are lined up, canteen and bar will be operating, and there’s a wood raffle happening as well. Wear your old Bullets jerseys to receive free entry into the games and also receive your first beer free.

Elsewhere on Saturday night there’ll be more live music at the Bingara RSL and Imperial Hotel.
